About Me Amy K. Guerra is a graduate of California State University, Fresno, where she obtained a Bachelor's of Art in Cultural Anthropology in 2001. She worked as an intern at California Rural Legal Assistance before she accepted an AmeriCorps *VISTA (i.e. often likened to a domestic version of Peace Corps) position at a nonprofit in West Fresno. As a *VISTA she worked to bring a Community Development Credit Union to West Fresno, a proposition designed to curb predatory lending practices, like payday lending, by bringing equitable financial services to the area. In 2001, she completed her second term as a *VISTA and began law school. She served as the Secretary and Vice President of the La Raza Student Association, and the Executive Editor of the San Joaquin Agricultural Law Review. She interned for two high profile attorneys, Pete Jones of the Fresno County Public Defender, and Patience Milrod, a private practioner. She also interned at the National Consumer Law Center over a summer during law school. She has been published in the San Joaquin Agricultural Law Review twice, and writes regularly for Fresno Magazine.
